The purpose of this Cookies Policy is to help you understand how Digital & Privacy Law Lab, S.L.P. ("DPLL", "we" or "us") uses cookies or similar technologies on the website www.beckhamlaw.eu (the "Site").
What are cookies?
This Site may use cookies and similar technologies (localStorage, sessionStorage, pixels) which collect and store information as you browse. In general, these technologies may be used for very different purposes, such as recognising you as a user, obtaining information about your browsing habits, or personalising the way content is displayed. The specific uses we make of these technologies are described below.
Categories we use
- Strictly necessary: technologies that allow the Site to function — for example, to remember your cookie preferences once you have set them, so the consent banner does not appear on every page.
- Audience measurement — cookieless (active by default): we use Matomo, a first-party analytics tool self-hosted by DPLL on matomo.beckhamlaw.eu. By default, Matomo runs in cookieless mode — it does not deposit any cookie on your browser and collects only aggregated, anonymised data:
- audience measurement, page by page and aggregated;
- the list of pages from which a link has been followed (the "referrer"), per page and aggregated daily;
- types of terminal, browser and screen size of visitors, per page and aggregated daily;
- statistics on page-loading times, time spent on each page, bounce rate, scrolling depth;
- statistics on user actions (clicks, selections), per page and aggregated daily;
- statistics on the geographic origin of requests, per page and aggregated daily.
- Audience measurement — third-party (opt-in only): if you click "Accept all" in the cookie banner, we additionally load Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google Ireland Ltd.). GA4 sets first-party cookies and processes data on the servers of Google. You can opt out at any time by reopening the cookie banner via the cookie icon at the bottom-left of any page.
- Behavioural advertising: we do not use behavioural-advertising cookies. The Site does not run third-party ads.

Managing your preferences
When you first visit the Site, a banner asks you to choose between three options:
- Accept all — Matomo (cookieless) continues, and Google Analytics 4 is additionally loaded.
- Accept only necessary — only Matomo cookieless runs. No Google Analytics, no advertising cookies.
- Reject all — Matomo opts you out for the current session and is not loaded on subsequent visits. No analytics whatsoever.
You can change your mind at any time. A small cookie icon appears at the bottom-left of every page once you have made a choice. Click it to reopen the banner and update your preferences.
Browser-level controls
Beyond the consent banner above, the main browsers also allow you to manage or block the installation of cookies at the browser level:
If you choose to block strictly necessary technologies (such as our consent-storage entry in localStorage), some preferences you may have selected will be lost.
Updates
This Cookies Policy may be updated periodically to reflect changes in the use of cookies or similar technologies. The "Last updated" date in the header above reflects the most recent revision.
